Levozet M Tablet
Description
Levozet M Tablet is a combination medicine that contains Levocetirizine (an antihistamine) and Montelukast (a leukotriene receptor antagonist). This tablet is primarily prescribed for the management of allergic rhinitis and other allergic conditions. It helps in relieving symptoms such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy and watery eyes, skin itching, and swelling.
Levocetirizine works by blocking the action of histamine, a chemical substance in the body responsible for allergy symptoms. Montelukast works by blocking leukotrienes, chemicals that cause airway inflammation, swelling, and tightening of airways in asthma and allergies. Together, these two medicines provide effective relief from seasonal and perennial allergies.
Common side effects include headache, stomach pain, dry mouth, sleepiness, dizziness, fatigue, rash, indigestion, and cough. Most of these side effects are mild and temporary. However, if you experience mood changes, depression, or thoughts of self-harm while on this medicine, you must inform your doctor immediately.
Levozet M Tablet should not be used as a rescue medicine for acute asthma attacks. Patients with conditions such as kidney problems, lactose intolerance, psychiatric illness, or phenylketonuria should inform their doctor before starting this medicine.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Levozet M Tablet should only be taken if clearly prescribed by a doctor, as safety data is limited. The medicine may pass into breast milk and cause drowsiness in infants. It is also advised to avoid alcohol while on this medicine, as it can increase sleepiness and dizziness.
