Klonaz Es Tab is a prescription medication commonly used to manage depression and anxiety disorders. Anxiety and other mood disorders like depression affect how you feel, your behaviour and your mood. Klonaz Es Tab helps stabilise the mood by lowering the excess activity of nerves in the brain. It has a sedation and relaxation effect on our mind and mood.
Klonaz Es Tab is a combination medicine that contains clonazepam and escitalopram as its main ingredient. Escitalopram works on the brain to prevent the re-uptake of serotonin, thereby increasing the level of serotonin in the nerve cells. Serotonin modulates various behavioural processes, including mood, memory, fear, appetite, stress response, and more. Clonazepam causes calming effects on the brain by increasing an inhibitory neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid) and increasing serotonin synthesis.
It is suggested that one take Klonaz Es Tab after a doctor prescribes it. Tell your doctor about the history of past illnesses and your medications. The dose of Klonaz Es Tab should be carefully monitored, especially in older patients and people with liver and kidney disorders. The dose should also be monitored because it can cause dependency and potential habit-forming.

Directions for Use

Storage and disposal

Overdose
Klonaz Es Tab overdose can cause irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, double vision, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, cardiac arrest, and coma. If you overdose on this medicine and experience any of these symptoms, immediately seek emergency medical treatment from a nearby hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of the Klonaz Es Tab, take it as soon as you remember. By chance. if you remember missing a dose when it's already time to take the next dose, then skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose. Talk to your doctor if you have any confusion regarding this issue. Do not take both doses together as it can lead to overdose side effects.

How Does It Work?
Klonaz Es Tab is a combination medicine that contains clonazepam and escitalopram. This medicine increases serotonin levels directly which improves the mood and relieves the user’s symptoms.
Serotonin (a hormone) controls various behavioural processes such as mood, memory, fear, appetite, anger, stress response, sexuality, etc. In addition, this medicine acts by preventing the re-uptake of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) by the nerve cells, thereby increasing its concentration. This process results in an increased effect of serotonin in the central nervous system (CNS).
Clonazepam acts dually by acting as a GABA-A receptor agonist and increasing serotonin synthesis. GABA stands for Gamma Amino Butyric Acid, and it is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. By binding to the GABA-A receptor, it enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid), resulting in anti-anxiety, sedative and muscle relaxant properties.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Tell your doctor what prescription and non-prescription medications, herbal products, vitamins and nutritional supplements you are taking or plan to take as there is a chance of drug interaction. Different medicines can interact with Klonaz Es Tab, making it less effective or increasing side effects.
- This includes -
- MAOI (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) like Selegiline, rasagiline, isocarboxazid, etc., which are strictly contraindicated as they may cause serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome can also be induced by tryptophan, buspirone, triptans, antidepressants, amphetamines, fentanyl, lithium, tramadol. These are also contraindicated.
- The interaction with azole antifungals, clarithromycin, or CYP2C19 inhibitors (e.g. fluconazole, fluvoxamine, omeprazole) may cause increased serum levels.
- Antidepressants like Imipramine and desipramine may interact with escitalopram and lead to very high blood pressure.
- Aspirin, NSAIDs, and other medicines that affect coagulation may interact and can increase the risk of bleeding.

- You can continue with the usual diet as food doesn’t influence the effect of Klonaz Es Tab. Talk to your doctor about any supplements or herbal drinks you may be currently taking before using this medicine.
