Joxin Eye Drops 5ml
Description
Joxin eye drop is a prescription eye and ear drop used to treat bacterial infections such as corneal ulcers and eye surface infections, especially those caused by tough-to-treat bacteria like pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is also helpful for treating outer ear infections (otitis externa) when there is strong inflammation and the bacteria are known to respond to ciprofloxacin.
This medicine contains ciprofloxacin as the active ingredient, which works by killing bacteria. It does this by stopping the bacteria from repairing their DNA, which is necessary for them to grow and survive. Once the bacteria are eliminated, the infection can begin to heal. Since it is used directly in the eye or ear, very little of the medicine gets into the rest of the body, so serious side effects are rare.
Common side effects may include mild irritation, redness, or a metallic taste. Rarely, a white deposit may form in the eye with frequent use; this is not harmful and usually resolves on its own. Do not use Joxin eye drop if you are allergic to ciprofloxacin. If you notice signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, itching, swelling, or trouble breathing, discontinue use of the medicine and seek medical attention immediately.
Follow your doctor’s instructions on how to use the drops. Wash your hands before applying, and avoid touching the bottle tip to your eye or ear. Do not wear contact lenses during treatment. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or using other medicines, let your doctor know. Although alcohol does not interact with the drops, you should avoid driving until any blurred vision goes away after applying them.
Store Joxin eye drop in a cool, dry place, keeping it out of the reach of children. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to your next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose. In case of accidental overdose or ingestion, contact a doctor immediately. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, please notify your doctor, as you may require a different treatment.
