Medical Description

Halovate F Cream is a combination medicine containing Halobetasol, which is a steroid and Fusidic acid, an antibiotic medicine. It is used for the treatment of skin disease associated with swelling, redness and itchiness of the skin. It also treats bacterial infection of the skin caused due to this skin disease. It works by decreasing the formation and action of chemicals responsible for swelling, itching and redness of the skin. It also works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Burning, itching, stinging, dryness and redness at the site of the application is a side effect of using Halovate F Cream. Use Halovate F Cream as directed by your doctor. For external use only. Apply it on a healthy skin surface, free from cuts and wounds.Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated. In case your eyes come in contact with this medicine, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.

Uses

For the treatment of skin disease associated with swelling, redness and itchiness of the skin. It also treats bacterial infection of the skin caused due to this skin disease.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to Fusidic acid and Halobetasol or any other ingredients of Halovate F Cream.

Side effects

Burning, itching, stinging, dryness and redness at the site of application.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Halovate F Cream is to be applied on topical surfaces and the quantities which might get absorbed from the skin is too little and there are rare chances of absorption. Still, this medicine should be used under medical supervision by a pregnant woman.

Breast Feeding

Halovate F Cream is to be applied on topical surfaces and the quantities which might get absorbed from the skin is too little and there are rare chances of absorption. It should not be applied to the breast by breastfeeding mothers or elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a prolonged period.

Driving

Halovate F Cream does not impair your driving abilities.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not known to interact with Halovate F Cream. However, if you consume alcohol too often, discuss it with your doctor.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You are using this medicine for a longer duration.
You are using this medicine on the face.
You have applied this cream, do not smoke or go near flames as it increases the chances of burns.

Directions for Use

Use Halovate F Cream as directed by your doctor.
For external use only. Apply it on a healthy skin surface, free from cuts and wounds.
Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated.
In case your eyes come in contact with this medicine, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.

Store this medicine at room temperature in a cool and dry place.
Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Dosage

Overdose

As Halovate F Cream is meant for external application, cases of overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it, wipe out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed applying Halovate F Cream, apply it as soon as possible. Do not over-apply this medicine to compensate for the missed application.

How Does It Work?

Halobetasol is a steroid, it works by decreasing the action of certain chemicals in the body that are responsible for causing swelling and itching. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic and works by inhibiting the process of protein synthesis in the bacteria. This ultimately leads to the prevention of bacterial growth.

Since Halovate F Cream is to be used externally on the skin, it is less likely to interact with other medicines. However, consult your doctor if you are taking other medicines for treating other health conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Halovate F Cream can be used on your face if prescribed by your doctor for your skin condition. This medicine should not enter in your eyes. If you are using this medicine on your face, use it for the shortest duration as prescribed by your doctor.

Halovate F Cream should not be used for the treatment of any type of fungal infection. If you use this medicine for the treatment of fungal infection, the deep spread of fungal infection can occur.

Halovate F Cream should not be used beyond 2 weeks. Consult your doctor if required to use these medicines beyond 2 weeks.

Halovate F Cream should not be used for the treatment of acne, as using it on acne can worsen your skin condition.
