Medical Description

Frext CR100 tablet is an antidepressant medication used in the treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Depressive disorder is a long-term disorder characterised by feelings of anger, rage, grief, and melancholy. A panic attack causes a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause. OCD is characterised by excessive thinking that leads to repetitive behaviour. Frext CR 100 tablets contain Fluvoxamine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). The mode of action of Frext CR100 is by boosting serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain. Serotonin is known to enhance mood, cognition, and memory. This action improves sleep and mood and relieves anxiety and tension in the user. Directions for use of Frext CR100 should be strictly followed. This prescription takes 4-6 weeks to work and should not be stopped mid-treatment. Before starting treatment with Frext CR100, it is important to inform the treating doctor of the user's complete medical history and all medications currently taken so that they can be checked for any interactions. Side effects of Frext CR100 include drowsiness, delayed ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, low sexual desire, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, fatigue, dry mouth, indigestion, loss of appetite, increased sweating, nervousness, and tremors. Most of these side effects do not require medical care and will go away over time.

Missed a Dose

Do not take a duplicate dose of Frext CR100 if you miss a dose. If you recollect the missing dose the next day, skip the missed dose and go straight to the next.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Frext CR100 increases serotonin levels in the body. Serotonin is a chemical messenger (neurotransmitter) in the brain that helps improve mood and physical symptoms of depressive disorders. Neurotransmitters are affected by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). By preventing serotonin from being absorbed into the gaps between nerve cells, it allows for more serotonin in the gaps, which, in turn, activates other nerves. This changes and lightens the mood.

Interactions

Other general Interactions

Immunosuppressants like cyclosporine can interact with Frext CR100. Medicines used for abnormal heart rhythms (mexiletine) can affect hepatic functions when taken with Frext CR100. Antiepileptic medications (phenytoin or carbamazepine) interact with Frext CR100 to cause more seizures. Antihypertensives (propranolol) interact with this medication by exaggerating their side effects. Fluvoxamine affects the hepatic enzyme CYP1A2 metabolism, which increases the action of ropinirole used for Parkinson's disease. Blood thinners (warfarin) along with Frext CR100 can result in an increased anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
