Femilon Strip Of 21 Tablets
Description
Femilon tablet is a combination of desogestrel and ethinylestradiol used for contraception (to prevent pregnancy) and to treat irregular periods. It works by preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries and its fertilisation by sperm.
You can take Femilon Tablet with or without food, but it is advisable to take it at the same time each day to maximise its effectiveness. Follow your doctor’s instructions for usage. Start taking the pill on the first day of your menstrual cycle and continue for a full month. Once you finish the pack, start a new one. If you experience vomiting within four hours of taking the dose, take another tablet.
If you miss your dose and it's been more than 12 hours, use a condom during intercourse for the next two days. Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, headache, breast pain, and weight gain. If these side effects are bothersome or serious, consult your doctor, as there may be ways to alleviate them.
You might also experience some spotting or bleeding between periods or missed periods. If this occurs frequently or lasts longer than expected, consult your doctor. It's essential to inform your doctor if you experience swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, or changes in your vision, as these may be signs of a blood clot.
Certain medicines, such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital, as well as other tuberculosis medications like rifampicin and rifabutin, and medicines used in diabetes and weight management, such as tirzepatide (Mounjaro 2.5 injection), should not be used in conjunction with this medicine without prior consultation with your doctor.
Before starting this medication, let your doctor know if you smoke and are over 35, or if you have a history of heart attack, or cancer of the uterus, cervix, or vagina. Your doctor should also be aware of any other medications you are taking, as many can reduce the effectiveness of Femilon or alter its action.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. While on treatment, you may be asked to undergo regular check-ups to monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.
