Medical Description

Febustat 40 tablet contains febuxostat as its active ingredient. Febustat 40 helps lower the raised uric acid levels in the blood, which can also lead to a condition known as hyperuricaemia. When the
uric acid levels in the blood increase than the normal level, it results in gouty arthritis. It is an anti-gout medicine. Febustat 40 tablet acts by inhibiting the chemical substance xanthine oxidase responsible for the formation of uric acid, thus lowering the serum uric acid levels. How Does It Work?

Febuxostat blocks an enzyme that is responsible for the formation of uric acid in the body. Thus lowering the uric acid levels in the body.

Directions for Use of Febustat 40mg Tab 15'S

Febustat 40 tablet should be taken orally as per the doctor's prescription. Prefer to take the medicine at the same time every day.

Interactions of Febustat 40mg Tab 15'S

Interactions with other medicines

  • Febustat 40 tablet increases the effect of mercaptopurine, azathioprine (immunosuppressant) and can cause serious harm, hence should not be used concomitantly.
  • The effect of Febustat 40 tablet alters when used concomitantly with antacids such as aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, thus one should have an interval of a minimum 1 hour between them.
  • Discuss with your doctor about any other medicine, herbal preparation and supplements you are taking currently to avoid any possible interactions.

Storage and disposal of Febustat 40mg Tab 15'S

  • Store it at a temperature below 25°C in a cool and dry place.
  • Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

Overdose

If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

Take the missed dose when you remember but if it is time for the next dose then skip the missed dose. Do not overdose to compensate for the missed dose.
