How does this medicine work?

Cefaclor is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It interferes with the bacterial cell wall, which stops susceptible bacteria from surviving. It does not treat viral colds or flu, so the infection should be assessed before use.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can change cefaclor levels or add to unwanted effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, supplements and herbal products you use. In particular, mention probenecid, antacids, blood thinners and other antibiotics.

Interactions with food items

Cefaclor may be given with or without food if advised by your doctor. Follow the product label and ask a pharmacist if stomach upset occurs.
