Depakote 250 MG Description
Depakote 250mg tablet contains valproic acid as the active molecule. These tablets treat manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder, seizures or fits (complex partial seizures and simple and com
plex absence seizures), and migraine headaches. Valproic acid stabilises various chemicals in the brain that affect mood, and electric impulses, thereby causing anti-convulsant and stabilising mood in patients with bipolar disorder. Depakote tablets are available only of doctor's prescription and should be taken at a dose and for a duration prescribed by a doctor. These tablets are not recommended during pregnancy if you are trying to get pregnant or in children below two years. Depakote tablets commonly cause stomach pain, headache, back pain, blurred vision, hair loss, and fever as side effects. If these side effects persist or worsen, seek medical advice.

Interactions with other medicines
- Depakote may increase the activity of MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, and benzodiazepines
- Concomitant administration of olanzapine decreases olanzapine concentration and increases risk of adverse effects such as dry mouth, tremor, increase in appetite, weight gain, speech disorder, and drowsiness....
- Concomitant administration of phenobarbital increases blood levels of phenobarbital and also causes sedation
- Concomitant administration of primidone increases blood levels of primidone and also causes sedation
- Valproic acid increases toxic effects of carbamazepine
- Concomitant administration of lamotrigine increases lamotrigine toxicity, leading to serious skin rashes
- Concomitant administration of felbamate decreases excretion of felbamate
- Valproic acid may cause an increase in rufinamide levels in the blood
- Concomitant administration of propofol increases blood levels of propofol
- Valproate may raise the Zidovudine plasma levels leading to increased chances of zidovudine toxicity.
