Medical Description
Intagesic-MR is a combination medication used to treat pain and muscle stiffness associated with various conditions such as headaches, arthritis, injuries, and menstrual cramps. It contains diclofenac, paracetamol, and chlorzoxazone, which work by reducing inflammation and relaxing muscles.
This medicine must be taken as directed by the doctor, in doses, and for the duration prescribed. Take it regularly at a fixed time. Do not skip a dose or consume more than that recommended by the doctor. Also, do not abruptly discontinue this medicine without first consulting your doctor.
Wingesic Plus tablet, Mobizox tablet, Mayospaz forte tablet and Powergesic MR tablet also contain diclofenac, paracetamol and chlorzoxazone.
Before initiating treatment with this medicine, you should let the doctor know if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. And inform the doctor of your detailed medical history.
Uses
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to diclofenac, paracetamol, chlorzoxazone, or any ingredient in the Intagesic-MR tablet.
- If you are experiencing bleeding from the stomach and intestine or have an active peptic ulcer.
- If you are allergic to other painkillers such as aspirin and have experienced severe asthma, rashes, or any other allergy.
- If you are suffering from any heart disease like heart failure and high blood pressure.
- If you have kidney or liver problems.
- If you are pregnant or elderly (65 or older).
- Do not use this medicine to relieve pain before, during, or after heart bypass surgery.

Other General Warnings
- You have kidney or liver problems.
- You have heart problems like high blood pressure and heart failure.
- You are an elderly patient or taking diuretics or have a kidney disorder; this medicine can increase the risk of kidney failure. Your doctor may ask you to do renal function tests.
- If you are suffering from gastrointestinal problems like bleeding, ulcers in the intestine (perforation) or Crohn's disease, or you are passing black tarry stools.
- You have asthma, especially if aspirin or other anti-inflammatory painkillers have previously worsened your symptoms.
- You have systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disorder).
- You have a history of heavy alcohol use or alcohol dependence, as this may increase the risk of liver injury.
- You have blood disorders, such as clotting problems and anaemia.
- You have skin rashes and lesions after taking this medicine.
Directions for Use
- Take Intagesic-MR as advised by your doctor with enough water.
- Take it after meals. Swallow it whole; do not chew.
- Consult your doctor rather than extending the course of medicine yourself.
- Do not take any other paracetamol-containing medicine, or another anti-inflammatory painkiller, alongside it.
- Avoid alcohol. It may increase drowsiness and the risk of liver injury or stomach bleeding.
- Drink enough fluids, if you have been vomiting or have diarrhoea.
- Do not drive or use machinery until you know how the tablet affects you.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take it if you are due to have surgery.
Storage and disposal
- Store Intagesic MR tablets below 30 degrees C, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Keep the tablets in the original strip until you take them. Do not use them after the expiry date, and return unused medicine to a pharmacy.

- Intagesic MR tablet is a pain-relieving medicine used for painful musculoskeletal conditions associated with muscle spasm. Do not take it for any condition other than the one your doctor prescribed it for.
- If your pain worsens or isn't relieved by the recommended doses, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
- Intagesic MR tablet is not recommended for children unless a doctor has advised it.
