Ceftum 500 tablets contain cefuroxime, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body, including the tonsils, throat, sinuses, ears, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin. Cefuroxime works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor, completing the full course of treatment for effective infection control. Common side effects include rash, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and elevated liver enzymes. Inform your doctor if these side effects are bothersome or persistent. Before taking Ceftum 500, tell your doctor about any allergies to antibiotics, existing kidney or liver problems, and other medications you're currently taking. - You experience continuous diarrhoea. Immediately stop taking it and report to the hospital.
- You experience difficulty in breathing, rashes, swelling of the face or mouth after taking this medicine.
- You develop rashes with blisters and peeling of skin after taking this tablet.
- You have kidney or liver disease; dose adjustment may be required.
- You develop white patches in your mouth after consumption of the Ceftum 500.
Directions for Use
- Ceftum 500 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It should be taken after a meal to avoid any stomach discomfort.
- It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
- Do not take antibiotic medicine more than the prescribed dose and duration.
Storage and disposal
- Store the Ceftum 500 tablet in a cool and dry place & protect it from sunlight.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
- Discard any unused medicine properly. Do not flush in the toilet or throw it into the drain.

- Remember to finish the entire course of treatment, even if you begin to feel better. Doing so will help prevent the infection from returning.
