Medical Description
Cardiorostin FB tablet is a combination medication used to treat high cholesterol levels. It contains two active ingredients: rosuvastatin and fenofibrate. This medication works by inhibiting the formation of cholesterol and fats in your body.
Take Cardiorostin FB tablet with a meal or on an empty stomach, at any time of the day. However, try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose based on your lipid levels and your response to treatment.
Common side effects of Cardiorostin FB tablet may include nausea, stomach pain, constipation, headache, flatulence (excessive gas), and muscle pain. These side effects are typically mild and usually resolve within a short period of time. If they persist, or if you experience yellowing of the eyes, unusual bleeding or bruising, or severe and unexplained muscle pain, consult your doctor. You may also be advised to undergo periodic liver function tests while on this medication.
Before starting this treatment, it is important to inform your doctor about your complete medical history. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of the medication based on your medical background. Individuals with high cholesterol often develop additional health complications, so it is essential to take this medicine as prescribed and to follow the lifestyle and dietary modifications recommended by your doctor.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Rosuvastatin works by interfering with the process of cholesterol synthesis. Cholesterol is produced by an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, and rosuvastatin inhibits this enzyme, thereby lowering cholesterol levels. It also increases good cholesterol, known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels
- Fenofibrate works by decreasing the bad cholesterol (LDL or low-density lipoprotein) and triglycerides by enhancing the natural lipid breakdown process (lipolysis) and increasing the concentration of good cholesterol (HDL or high-density lipoprotein).
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Using Cardiorostin Fb Tablet increases the risk of bleeding when used along with blood thinners like warfarin.
- Concomitant use of Cardiorostin Fb Tablet along with medicines that reduce the activity of the immune system (ciclosporin) may lead to kidney damage.
- When Cardiorostin Fb Tablet is taken along with medicines used to lower cholesterol (statins, gemfibrozil, fenofibrate, etc.), there is an increased chance of the development of a muscle disorder.
- Oestrogen-containing oral contraceptives may interfere with the working of fenofibrate, the active ingredient in the Cardiorostin Fb Tablet; hence, the use of oral contraceptives should be done with caution along with the Cardiorostin Fb Tablet.
- Concomitant use of medicines used to treat bacterial infections (fusidic acid) should be avoided, as there is an increased risk of the development of muscle disorders.
- When medicines used to neutralise stomach acid (antacids) are taken along with Cardiorostin Fb Tablet, they tend to decrease the concentration of rosuvastatin (the active ingredient in the Cardiorostin Fb Tablet) in the blood, which may affect the efficacy of the medicine.
- Antiviral medicines like ritonavir are said to delay the elimination of rosuvastatin from the body, increasing its exposure. Concomitant use should be done carefully.
