Ativan 1 mg Tablet aids in the treatment of anxiety, panic attack, sleep disturbance, and social phobias. It gives short-term relief from anxiety symptoms such as nervousness, increased breathing, increased heart rate, excessive sweating, weakness or lack of concentration. It is also used to induce sedation before surgery or in dental procedures.
The active ingredient of Ativan 1mg Tablet is lorazepam. It soothes the brain by reducing the excessive activity of nerve cells. Do not take this medicine without consulting a doctor. For optimal pharmacological effects, take the medication at the same time of the day. Ativan 1mg Tablet can be taken with or without food.
Ativan 1mg Tablet has a habit-forming tendency if taken in larger doses or for a longer period of time. So, inform the doctor if you have a history of addiction or substance abuse. Do not skip Ativan 1mg Tablet without consulting your doctor, even after the resolution of the symptoms. - If you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma (caused by blocked draining canals in the eye, increasing pressure)

Storage and disposal

You can also dispose of them blended in with something unfortunate, for example, utilised coffee beans or soil, to make the medication less appealing to children and pets.

Overdose
Don’t take Ativan 1 mg Tablets more than the prescribed dose. Overdosing will lead to toxicity in the body. It can lead to severe side effects like rashes, hives, dizziness, swelling, wheezing, cough, shortness of breath, aggressiveness, etc. In case of an overdose of Ativan 1mg Tablet, directly visit the nearest emergency room of the hospital.
Do not give this medicine to someone else who has the same condition, as it may lead to unwanted side effects.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed the dose of Ativan 1 mg Tablets, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, take the next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses together to compensate for the missed dose. Additionally, do not stop or change the dosage without consulting your doctor.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Ativan 1mg Tablet increases GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric Acid) activity, a chemical agent that reduces excessive activity in the brain, which is associated with seizures (fits). GABA calms down the nerves and relaxes the brain. Additionally, it blocks calcium channels which decreases the release of the excitatory transmitter in the body. In laboratory animals, lorazepam produces sedative, anti-convulsant, muscle relaxant and hypnotic effects.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- To avoid side effects associated with medicine interactions, tell your doctor about any medicines, herbal medicines or supplements, and vitamins supplement you are currently taking. Ativan 1mg Tablet can cause adverse effects with the following medicines:
- Antidepressants such as phenelzine, iproniazid
- Antibiotics, lithium, and tryptophan
- Medicine for migraine, stomach ulcers, and fungal infections with Ativan 1 mg Tablets
- Seek medical advice before taking Ativan 1 mg Tablets if you are on opioids. Opioids have additive effects and lead to sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and death.
- Pain killers
- Medicines that decrease blood levels of potassium or magnesium, as they have the tendency to increase the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm disorder.
