How does this medicine work?

Isosorbide dinitrate is converted in the body to nitric oxide, which signals blood vessels to relax and widen. This improves blood flow to the heart muscle, allowing it to receive more oxygen. The medicine reduces the workload on the heart and decreases the frequency and severity of chest pain.
