Mode of Action of Alprasafe 0.5 MG
How Does It Work?
Alprazolam belongs to a class of medicines called Benzodiazepines. These medicines primarily act on the brain pathways to increase the action of a chemical messenger, otherwise known as a neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). This medicine binds to the GABA-A receptors in the brain, thereby causing increased activity of GABA. This neurotransmitter’s effects on the brain are inhibitory and result in sedation, calming effects, muscle relaxation, etc. These effects of the medicine are used to treat anxiety and panic disorders in patients.
