About Ecosprin 150

Ecosprin 150 tablet is an antiplatelet medicine and contains aspirin as its active ingredient. It is used to prevent the risk of heart attacks, stroke and angina. It prevents blood clot formation within the body. It must be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. Avoid missing a dose or take more than that prescribed. Before using the medicine, inform the doctor if you have asthma, stomach or intestinal ulcers, or haemophilia. Inform the doctor if you are on steroids or a medicine called methotrexate.

Uses

  • For the prevention of heart attack, stroke, heart conditions like stable or unstable angina (chest pain) due to a blood clot.
  • Used for acute heart attack and blood clot formation after heart surgery.
  • Used in patients with a history of stroke due to blood clots or risk of vascular thrombosis (blood clot obstructing blood flow in a vein).

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to aspirin or other ingredients of Ecosprin 150 tablet.
  • You may have an active bleeding or clotting disorder like haemophilia and low platelet count.
  • You may have a history of ulcer or bleeding in the stomach or small intestine.
  • You may have gout, liver or kidney disorder or bleeding in the brain.
  • You are pregnant (last three months) or breastfeeding.
  • Taking medicines for cancer or rheumatoid arthritis-like methotrexate.

Symptoms of an overdose of Ecosprin 150 tablet includes ringing in the ears, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting and stomach ache, sweating, fever, increased pulse or breathing rate, fits, low blood sugar. If you think you have taken too much Ecosprin 150 tablet, then contact the doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a dose

If you missed taking a dose of Ecosprin 150 tablet, then take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Try not to skip/miss any dose of the medicine as it leads to serious complications.

Methotrexate

Severe

Ecosprin 150 Tablet reduces the renal clearance of methotrexate, leading to higher systemic exposure and increased risk of serious haematological toxicities such as bone marrow suppression and pancytopenia, especially at higher methotrexate doses.

Warfarin

Severe

Ecosprin 150 Tablet increases bleeding risk by three mechanisms: inhibition of platelet aggregation, irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, and displacement of anticoagulants from plasma protein binding sites.

Clopidogrel

Severe

Additive inhibition of platelet function significantly increases the risk of gastrointestinal or mucosal bleeding, especially in elderly patients or those with peptic ulcer history.

Lithium

Moderate

Ecosprin 150 Tablet reduces renal excretion of digoxin and lithium, resulting in increased plasma concentrations and risk of toxicity (arrhythmias for digoxin, neurotoxicity for lithium).

Ibuprofen

Moderate

Ibuprofen may competitively inhibit Ecosprin 150 Tablet's access to platelet COX-1 receptors, reducing its antiplatelet (cardioprotective) effect when taken together frequently or at incorrect intervals.

Probenecid

Moderate

Ecosprin 150 Tablet inhibits the uricosuric effect of these agents, potentially worsening hyperuricaemia and reducing efficacy in gout management.

Acetazolamide

Moderate

Combined carbonic anhydrase inhibition may result in metabolic acidosis, confusion, lethargy, and other CNS side effects due to additive toxicity.

Tacrolimus

Moderate

Co-administration increases nephrotoxic risk due to additive impairment of renal perfusion, particularly under dehydration or high-dose regimens.

Phenytoin

Similar to valproate, Ecosprin 150 Tablet displaces phenytoin from protein-binding sites, potentially raising active drug levels despite unchanged total concentration.

Valproic Acid (Sodium Valproate)
