Medical Description

Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop is an antibiotic medicine. It contains ofloxacin as an active ingredient. It is used to treat bacterial eye infections like conjunctivitis, and it works by killing the particular bacteria's responsible for infection in the eyes/ears. Do not stop the course of treatment even if you feel better, and follow the prescribed duration to make sure all the infection has cleared. You should be very careful while driving or using any tools because your vision may become slightly blur for a while after using Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop. It should be avoided from sunlight exposure. It is suggested to ask the doctor before giving it to children, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. It is not recommended to use contact lenses during the treatment.

Uses

  • For the treatment of conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers or external infections in the eyes.
  • It also provides symptomatic relief in pain, redness, itching or unusual eye discharge caused due to eye/ear infections.

Contraindications

If you have a history or you are allergic to ofloxacin or any other ingredients of the Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop.

Breast Feeding

Components of this medicine pass in breast milk. Breastfeeding is not advised when you are taking this medicine. A breastfeeding woman should take this medicine only if the potential benefit for the mother outweighs the risk to the breast-fed baby.

Driving

You may experience blur vision for a short while after using Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop. So it is advisable not to drive or use any tools immediately after the instillation of drops.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • Use Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop within one month after opening the container. Also, it should not be used for injection.
  • You are already having an allergy to any other antibacterial medicines.
  • If you do not feel any relief or experience increased or persistent irritation, stop using the medicine and consult your doctor.
  • You experience any severe allergic reactions like swelling, difficulty in breathing, loss of consciousness, any heart-related problem etc. then discontinue the medicine and talk to your doctor immediately.
  • You are already using any other anti-infectives along with Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop, then it may cause any other bacterial infections, So you may require an alternative therapy.
  • It should be used with caution in patients who are having ulcers on the eye surface.
  • Do not touch the nozzle of the dropper to avoid contamination and wash hands properly before instillation of the drops.

Directions for Use

  • Use Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop as instructed by your doctor.
  • Do not change your dose unless your doctor tells you to.
  • Never stop the medicine on your own.

Storage and disposal

Store it in original packing to protect it from light. Do not store above 25°C. Try to keep it out of the reach of children.

Overdose

  • Symptoms of overdose may include allergic reactions in the eyes like itching, swelling, redness in the eyes etc. Contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital if you experience any of the signs.
  • In case of overdose stop using the eye drops immediately and wash your eyes with lukewarm water to remove extra drops.

Missed a Dose

It is advised not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it may increase the risk of developing resistance to Zenflox Eye/Ear Drops and it may result in the failure of therapy. If you skipped the dose, put eye drops as soon as possible. Do not use it in an excess amount just to compensate for the skipped dose.

  • Sometimes Zenflox drops may affect the way other medicines work or vice versa if taken at the same time
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • Especially if you are already taking certain medications for eye-related disorders.
  • However, Zenflox Eye/Ear Drop should be used with caution if a person is already taking other medicines for heart-related disorders such as quinidine and brain-related conditions like citalopram etc. or antibiotics like azithromycin etc.
