Medical Description

eye drop is used to treat bacterial eye infections with accompanying inflammation. It is a combination medicine containing tobramycin (an antibiotic) and dexamethasone (a steroid), which work together to eliminate bacteria and reduce swelling, redness, and eye discomfort.

Contraindications

Do not use if allergic to tobramycin, dexamethasone, or other ingredients. Avoid in viral eye infections (such as herpes simplex of the cornea) or fungal infections, as the steroid may worsen these conditions. Do not use in untreated parasitic eye infections.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands before applying this eye drop. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently, and instil the prescribed number of drops into the eye pocket. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes to allow the drops to spread. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or eyelid to prevent contamination. Use this eye drop for the duration advised by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

Store the eye drop in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children. Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening.

Dosage

Accidental ingestion or excessive use may cause mild nausea or diarrhea. If you think you have used too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that kills bacteria causing the infection. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, redness, and pain. Together, they treat the infection while calming the inflammation causing your symptoms.

No significant interactions are known when used as directed. If using other eye medicines, wait at least 5-10 minutes between applications. Tell your doctor about all other eye medicines you are using.
