Medical Description

Telma-AM is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure. It contains telmisartan and amlodipine, which work by relaxing blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and improving blood flow to the heart. This medication can be taken with or without food, but it's important to follow your doctor's prescribed dosage and duration of treatment.

Do not stop taking Telma-AM without consulting your doctor. Before starting this medication, inform your doctor about any existing medical conditions, especially kidney or liver problems, dehydration, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Telma-AM may cause side effects like headache, dizziness, tiredness, stomach upset, and swelling. Telma-AM tablet is used for the treatment of high blood pressure.

Contraindications of TELMA AM 40/5MG STRIP OF 15 TABLETS

If you are allergic to amlodipine, telmisartan or any other ingredients of Telma-AM tablet.
If you are in your second or third trimester of pregnancy.
If you have a liver function problem or an obstruction in the bile duct.
If you have experienced shock recently or a heart attack or heart failure.
If you have heart disease due to which there is an obstruction of the outflow tract of the left ventricles.
If you are taking any medicines containing Aliskiren and you happen to be diabetic or have kidney failure problems.

Pregnancy

Can I take Telma-AM tablet during pregnancy?

It is not recommended to use Telma-AM tablet if you are pregnant; it may cause harm to the developing foetus. If pregnancy is detected when you are on treatment with this medicine, inform your doctor immediately, you will be switched to a safer alternative.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Telma-AM tablet while breastfeeding?

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Telma-AM tablet?

After taking Telma-AM tablet, you may experience fainting ( due to insufficient blood flow to the brain), sleepiness, dizziness and giddiness. These are infrequent side effects but be cautious while driving or operating any machinery.

Can I consume alcohol with Telma-AM tablet?

Avoid alcohol during the treatment. It can cause adverse effects along with Telma-AM tablet. Consuming alcohol when you have a blood pressure problem is not advisable as alcohol can lower blood pressure.

You have any liver or kidney problems or you are diabetic.
You are suffering from a kidney-related problem called renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the blood vessels of the kidneys).
You have low blood pressure.
You have a high level of potassium in your blood serum reports.
You have any heart disorders like narrowing of the aorta, chest pain, history of heart attack, etc.

Steroids taken via injection or infusion can interfere with the blood pressure-lowering effect of Telma-AM tablets.
Medicines used as muscle relaxants called dantrolene, if taken along can lead to serious heart-related problems.
