Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Sometimes headache pains are caused due to widened vessels in the head.
- Ergotamine works by preventing blood vessels in the head from expanding and causing headaches.
- Caffeine increases the absorption of ergotamine in the brain and also enhances the vasoconstrictive effect of ergotamine and thus, helps in narrowing the blood vessels in the brain.
- Prochlorperazine acts as an anti-emetic that prevents nausea and vomiting associated with migraines by blocking the signals in the specific part of the brain that is responsible for nausea or vomiting.
- Paracetamol works by interfering with the production of a chemical called prostaglandins, which is responsible for the sensation of pain.
