Uses
- According to CDSCO guidelines,
- Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml is used as
- a Neuroleptic agent (reduce nervous tension by depressing nerve activity)
- Indicated in psychotic (altered thought, perception, loss of touch with reality)
- schizophrenia cases where sedative (causing sleep) and hypnotics effects are contra-indicated
Contraindications
- Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml is contraindicated:
- If you are allergic to any ingredients of Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml
- If you have Liver disease
- If you have Kidney disease
- If you are a child below 18 years of age
Side effects
- In most people, there are no side effects seen with Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml, but some may experience the following side-effects.
- Sleepiness
- Orthostatic hypotension (low reading of blood pressure on sudden standing)
- Movement disorders like trembling, muscle spasms
- Pain, swelling and redness (at the injection site)
- Weight gain
- If any of the above side effects occur to you, it should be reported to your doctor. Your doctor may change the medicine or prescribe another medicine to reverse the side effects

Directions for Use
- A small dose of Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml is injected as a test dose to see how your body reacts to the medicine for the first time. A nurse or a doctor usually does this
- If you react well to the medicine, your doctor may start you on a regular injection given via intramuscular route into the thigh-muscle or bottom
- The usual dose of Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml varies from 20 mg to 400 mg weekly. It is usually prescribed on two weekly basis but may also be given once a month. You need to follow your doctor's advice very precisely
- Kindly do not administer the medicine yourself

- Antifungal medicines like Clotrimazole, Fluconazole, Itraconazole- It increases the levels of Spenzo, which may lead to abnormal heart rate
- Levodopa (Anti-parkinson's medicine) - inceased toxicity of Spenzo Depot 20 mg Inj 1 ml
