Description
Riswel Plus tablet is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of medicines called anti-psychotics. The active ingredients in Riswel Plus tablets are Risperidone (3 mg) and Trihexyphenidyl (2
mg). This medication is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a disorder that causes an altered perception of reality, affecting how a person feels, thinks, and behaves. They can present with hallucinations, delusions, altered perceptions, mood changes, disorderly thinking: all of which can be debilitating. There are certain chemical messengers (neurotransmitters) and pathways in the brain that are thought to produce the symptoms of schizophrenia, two being serotonin and dopamine. Antipsychotic medications primarily decrease this process, thereby providing relief from symptoms. Directions for use of Riswel Plus tablets should be strictly followed. It should be taken exactly as recommended by the doctor. It should not be abruptly started or stopped, as it may cause a relapse of symptoms, withdrawal symptoms, and worsening of the underlying condition. Side effects of Riswel Plus tablets include sedation, dizziness and blurred vision, weight gain, increased appetite, nausea and vomiting, dry mouth, constipation, headache, orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of BP on standing), anxiety, and increased sugar levels in people with diabetes.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Riswel Plus Tablets
- Take Riswel Plus tablets exactly as advised by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot notice the effects of this medicine.
- Take Riswel Plus tablets as a whole with a glass of water.
- Do not break or chew this tablet.
- Take this medicine with and without food.
- Take Riswel Plus tablets at the same time every day, so a stable level of the medication is maintained in the body. Do not take Riswel Plus tablets with other medicines without informing your doctor.
- Do not consume this medicine if its packaging is broken.
- Do not abruptly stop taking Riswel Plus tablets; this can result in adverse effects from withdrawal.

Interactions with other medicines
- Riswel Plus tablets can interact with many medicines and cause adverse side effects. It is advised to inform the doctor of all medication being taken to be checked for possible interaction issues. The following medicines are known to interact with Riswel Plus tablets....
- Carbamazepine and other enzyme inducers decrease plasma concentrations of risperidone.
- Fluoxetine, paroxetine, and other enzyme inhibitors increase plasma concentrations of risperidone.
- Concomitant use with other medications with anticholinergic action (like antihistamines and tricyclic antidepressants) can increase the side effects of Riswel Plus tablets.
- Use caution if administering Riswel Plus tablets with antihypertensives. Riswel Plus tablets can further lower blood pressure.
- Titration of sugar medications may be required as Riswel Plus tablets may cause an increase in blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
