Medical Description

Pyzina Tablet belongs to the anti-tubercular medicine group. It contains Pyrazinamide as an active ingredient. Pyzina Tablet is given in combination with at least one other anti-tubercular medicine. Together this combination of medicine kills the bacteria called ‘Mycobacterium tuberculosis’, responsible for TB (tuberculosis) infection and hence control the infection. Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious lung disease that mainly affects the lungs. Still, if left untreated, it can also affect other body parts such as kidneys, brain, spine, and bone marrow. Pyzina Tablet works by inhibiting the organism's growth by lowering the pH inside the cell by converting it into an active metabolite known as pyrazinoic acid(an active form of the medicine) in the presence of the enzyme pyrazinamide. It is effective only against intracellular mycobacteria. Pyzina Tablet is given in combination with at least one other tuberculosis medicine. The most common side effects of taking a Pyzina Tablet include muscle/joint pain, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite. These symptoms usually resolve with time and do not require urgent medical attention. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently or any other serious side effects. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor about your past medical history.
