Olmesar 40 MG Description

Olmesar 40 tablet is a blood-pressure reducing medicine. It contains olmesartan as the active ingredient. It is used to treat high blood pressure. Take this medicine as suggested by the doctor and in

the dose and duration prescribed. You can take it with or without food. Do not stop the medicine on your own. Avoid taking Olmesar 40 tablet if you are allergic to it, are over 3-months pregnant, have kidney diseases, or are diabetic. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history. The medicine is not recommended for children below the age of 6 years.

If you are pregnant for over 3-months.
If you suffer from jaundice or diabetes.
If you have gallbladder problems or kidney disease.

Mode of Action of Olmesar 40 MG

How Does It Work?

Olmesar 40 tablet blocks a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten, thus relaxing blood vessels and allowing the blood to flow easily.

Directions for Use of Olmesar 40 MG

Take Olmesar 40 tablet as suggested by the doctor.
Swallow as a whole with a glass of water or milk.
Take with or without food.
Do not break, crush or chew the medicine.
Take at the same time every day for optimal results.
Avoid taking doses more than that recommended.

Interactions of Olmesar 40 MG

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Olmesar 40 tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Olmesar 40 tablet when taken with other blood pressure reducing medications like benazepril, captopril, and lisinopril, may alter its effects.
Concomitant use along with medicine used for the treatment of heart diseases and high blood pressure like perindopril, candesartan, and aliskiren may increase the risk of side effects.
Concomitant use of the medicine along with potassium supplements, medications like amiloride, and spironolactone are not recommended, as it may lead to increased potassium levels in the blood.
Medicines like aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. may lead to kidney failure when taken together with this medicine.
Lithium must not be taken with Olmesar 40 tablet.
This medicine must be taken 4 hours before colesevelam (used to reduce cholesterol and fatty substances in the blood).

Store Olmesar 40 tablet at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat.
Keep it away from children and pets.
