Medical Description
Nitrobact 100 capsule is an antibiotic medicine that is used to treat bacterial infections caused by bacteria like E-coli, or staphylococcus in the urinary tract. This antibiotic provides symptomatic relief in certain infections associated with the bladder, kidney and other parts of the urinary tract. It has nitrofurantoin as its active component that works by killing the bacteria which cause infection. It is active against the majority of urinary microorganisms. You are supposed to complete the prescribed dosage duration by your physician. If you skip the dose or do not complete the course it may cause resistance and decrease the effectiveness of immediate treatment. This medicine should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It should be taken with a meal or food to avoid stomach upset and also to help increase absorption. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting Nitrobact 100 capsule.

Contraindications
- If you are allergic to nitrofurantoin or any of the components present in the tablet.
- If you are in the final stage of pregnancy.
- If you are suffering from any kidney disease. If you are suffering from any kind of blood disorder such as porphyria.
- If you are a patient with G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency. The infants are under three months of age.

- You have any pre-existing medical condition such as diabetes, liver or kidney problems, a blood disorder, history of any allergic reaction etc.
- You are suffering from any illness causing severe weakness.
- You lack vitamin B or abnormal levels of salts in your blood.
- You pass dark-colored urine.
- You experience fatigue, yellowing of the skin or eyes, itching, skin rashes, joint pain, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dark urine, and pale or grey-coloured stools.
- You have any diseases of the lungs or the nervous system.
- This medicine contains lactose and sucrose (sugars). If you have been told by your doctor that you are intolerant to some sugars and have to avoid them, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
Directions for Use
- Take it orally with food or meal or any drink.
- Always consult with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
- Always take the medicine as prescribed by the doctor.

- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not store above 30°C.
- Store in the original package to protect from light and moisture.
- Do not use the medicine after the expiry date.

Interactions with other medicines
- Certain medicines can interfere with the action of Nitrobact 100 capsule if, taken at the same time. Always inform your doctor about all the medicine you are taking, that includes all prescribed or non-prescribed herbal medicines, dietary supplements as well as other treatments if you are taking any disorder.
- In particular, if you are taking medicines for gout, increased pressure inside the eyes (glaucoma), anti-infectives like quinolone, antacids for indigestion (like magnesium trisilicate), as they can decrease the efficacy of Nitrobact 100 capsule tablet.
- Other medicines that should be used with caution are medicines that make the urine less acidic (e.g. potassium citrate mixture) as they may alter the activity. Caution is advised while taking Typhoid vaccine, as it can be easily inactivated by the tablet.
