Misoprost 25 MCG Description
Misoprost Tablet is used to treat stomach/duodenal/peptic ulcers and medical termination of pregnancy in the first trimester. Cervical ripening during delivery and preventing post-delivery bleeding are other common uses of Misoprost tablets.
Misoprost tablet is composed of Misoprostol as its main ingredient. It protects the surface of the stomach by lowering the amount of acid. It also induces contraction in the uterus, resulting in medical termination of pregnancy, ripening of the cervix, and reducing uterus bleeding after delivery.
Misoprost tablet is an effective anti-ulcer medication. It is mainly used to prevent ulcers due to overusing certain medications such as non-steroidal pain medication(NSAID) like aspirin, acetaminophen (paracetamol), etc. It is used along with another medication called Mifepristone to cause medical abortion. It helps contract the uterus expels all the blood and tissue after abortion....

Uses of Misoprost 25 MCG
- As per CDSCO, Misoprost tablet is used in
- Management of various stomach ulcers like Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcers
- Managing ulcers induced by abusing certain medications like NSAIDs
- The medical termination of an intrauterine pregnancy in the first trimester (or within 63 days from the first day of last menstrual period) along with Mifepristone medicine.
- Inducing labour by causing cervical ripening
- The prevention of postpartum haemorrhage (post-delivery bleeding)
Contraindications of Misoprost 25 MCG
- If you are pregnant and want to use Misoprostol tablet to treat gastric ulcers. This medicine will terminate the pregnancy.
- If you have any severe heart disease or hypertension (high blood pressure).
- If you have any allergic reactions, misoprostol or any of the components of this medicine.
- If you are breastfeeding.
- If you have any autoimmune stomach conditions like inflammatory bowel disease(IBS).
- If you have any infection in the pelvis or sepsis.
- If you have any bleeding disorder and are currently under treatment for it.
- If you have a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy).

How Does It Work?
The Misoprost Tablets consist of its main ingredient. It mimics the functioning of natural chemical messenger in the body called prostaglandin. Hence, it is known as prostaglandin analogue. Prostaglandins naturally help in causing contractions of the uterus. Misoprost tablet mimics this effect, which results in the expulsion of the foetal tissue from the uterus. It also stimulates receptors in the stomach and duodenum, which lowers the secretion of acids. It also effectively reduces bleeding....

- The directions to use the Misoprost tablet depends on the condition you are taking it for.
- If you are taking this for a stomach ulcer, take these pills by mouth, in the dose and duration as instructed by the doctor. Take them after eating food as a whole tablet, without breaking or chewing it....

Missed a Dose
