Description
Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefixime and ofloxacin as the active components. This Dry Syrup is used to treat bacterial infections in the eyes, ears, nose, thro
at, lungs, skin, bones and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract in children. Cefixime stops bacterial growth by preventing the production of the protective layer, known as the cell wall of the bacteria. Ofloxacin, on the other hand, interacts with the genetic material of bacteria and halts their growth. Together, these molecules inhibit bacterial growth and the spread of infection. Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup is available by prescription. Your child's doctor will determine the dose and duration for using Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup. You should not give your child a lesser or greater amount of medicine than recommended by their doctor. This medicine can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, restlessness, stomach pain, or dizziness as side effects. If these effects persist, you must take your child to a doctor.

Contraindications
- Known allergy to any ingredients of Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup.
- History of epilepsy or an existing brain disorder.
- History of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone medication administration.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup contains two molecules: cefixime and ofloxacin. Both molecules work to eliminate bacteria. Cefixime inhibits the formation of the bacterial protective layer (cell wall), while ofloxacin interacts directly with the bacteria's genetic material. The bacteria responsible for the infection stop growing, and the spread of the infection is halted....
Directions for Use
- Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and duration of this medication.
- Before using, read the directions on the label.
- The Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup should be consumed with food.
- Shake well before use.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of antacids, zinc or iron preparations, or sucralfate medications reduces absorption of ofloxacin
- Concomitant use of theophylline reduces the seizure threshold
- Concomitant use of probenecid, cimetidine, methotrexate, and furosemide raises the blood levels of ofloxacin
- Concomitant use of blood thinning-medications like warfarin increases the chances of severe bleeding
- Concomitant use of glibenclamide causes increase in blood levels of glibenclamide
Storage and disposal
- Keep this medication out of reach from children and pets
- Do not use the medication after the expiry date
- Store Mahacef Plus Paed Dry Syrup below 25°C
- Do not dispose medicines in wastewater or household garbage
Dosage
Overdose
Overdose may result in confusion, dizziness, loss of consciousness, and seizures. Contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately, in case of overdose.
Missed a Dose
Unless your child's doctor has recommended otherwise, you can administer the missed dosage as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not give a double dose to make up for missed doses; instead, stick to the suggested dosing schedule....
