Medical Description
Mahacef 200 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine containing cefixime as its active ingredient. It is commonly prescribed for treating various bacterial infections, including those affecting the urinary tract, lungs, throat, airways, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Doctors also recommend Mahacef 200 for managing typhoid fever, as it helps control and eliminate the infection.
The medicine works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which is essential for bacterial survival. By disrupting this process, cefixime weakens the bacteria, causing them to die and ultimately clearing the infection. Since Mahacef is only effective against bacterial infections, it does not work for viral illnesses such as the common cold or flu.
For best results, Mahacef 200 should be taken with meals to reduce stomach upset and improve absorption. Patients must complete the full course of antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor, even if symptoms improve early. Skipping doses or stopping treatment halfway can lead to antibiotic resistance and a higher risk of the infection returning.
Like all antibiotics, Mahacef 200 may cause mild side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, or indigestion. These typically subside on their own, but if they become severe or persistent, medical advice should be sought. Before starting this medication, it is important to inform the doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any pre-existing medical conditions, along with any medicines or supplements you are taking.
Other popular brands containing cefixime 200 mg include Taxim O 200mg tablet, Zifi 200mg tablet, Cefix 200mg tablet, Ceftas 200mg tablet, and Cefolac 200mg tablet. Mahacef 200 remains a trusted choice for doctors in effectively managing bacterial infections when used correctly under medical supervision.
