Uses
- Treatment of manic episodes of Bipolar Disorder.
- Maintenance treatment for individuals with a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder.
Contraindications
- If you suffer from a renal disease
- If you have a cardiovascular disease (heart disease)
- If you suffer from severe debilitation or weakness
- If you have dehydration
- If you have reduced levels of sodium

- Orthostatic hypotension(mild dizziness when standing up from a sitting or lying down position)

Directions for Use
- Licab should be taken as prescribed by the doctor.
- It is advised to take this medication at the same time every day for optimal pharmacological effects.
- This medicine can be taken with or without food.
- Swallow this medication as a whole.
- Do not crush, chew or break this tablet.
- It is recommended to finish the full course of this medication as prescribed by the doctor.
- Abrupt stoppage of the medication can cause withdrawal side effects. Consult your doctor before stopping this medication.

Interactions with other medicines
- Licab should be used with caution with other antipsychotic medications. It is especially dangerous when taken with haloperidol. Concomitant use can cause weakness, tiredness, fever, tremors, and changes in enzyme and sugar levels.
- Caution is needed when using Licab along with painkillers belonging to the class of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti inflammatory agents). It can result in symptoms of lithium toxicity such as diarrhoea, vomiting, drowsiness, and weakness.
- Use of Licab along with diuretics or ACE inhibitors (for example, to control blood pressure) can affect sodium levels.
