Medical Description
Ibugesic Plus Tablet is an analgesic and antipyretic medication, widely used for the short-term management of mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever. It contains two active ingredients: Ibuprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID) and Paracetamol (Also Known as Acetaminophen). Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are essential for the production of prostaglandins, a class of chemicals in the body that cause pain, fever, and inflammation. Paracetamol enhances the pain-relieving and fever-reducing effects by acting centrally in the brain, where it blocks the generation of pain signals and regulates body temperature.
This medication is commonly used for conditions such as headaches, toothaches, muscle and joint pain, menstrual cramps, postoperative discomfort, and fever. It is especially beneficial when both pain and inflammation need to be managed simultaneously. Ibugesic Plus provides a faster onset of action and enhanced efficacy compared to either component used alone. However, its use should be limited to the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration to avoid adverse effects, particularly gastrointestinal irritation, liver stress, and kidney function compromise.
While Ibugesic Plus is not habit-forming, it should be used with caution in individuals with liver or kidney impairment, gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, asthma, cardiovascular conditions, or autoimmune disorders. It is contraindicated in pregnant women (especially during the third trimester), and caution is advised in breastfeeding mothers due to the mild excretion of components into breast milk. Alcohol should be strictly avoided during treatment as it significantly increases the risk of liver toxicity and gastrointestinal bleeding. Ibugesic Plus should not be taken along with other paracetamol-containing products or NSAIDs, unless prescribed by a healthcare provider.
The tablet should be taken with or after food to minimise stomach upset. Dosing should be as per your physician's advice. Long-term or high-dose use without medical supervision can lead to serious complications such as liver failure, kidney damage, or peptic ulcer disease. It may interact with several medications, including blood thinners (e.g., warfarin), antihypertensives, antiepileptics, antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin), and immunosuppressants (e.g., tacrolimus). You should always consult a doctor before initiating or combining it with other medications, especially if managing chronic conditions.
Combiflam tablet, Flexon tablet, and Imol Plus tablet also contain the same composition as Ibugesic Plus tablet.

Contraindications
- If you are allergic to Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, or other Ibugesic Plus tablet ingredients,
- If you have a history of allergic reactions due to painkillers like aspirin, etc.
- If you are taking medicines containing Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, or other pain medicines.
- If you have a history of ulcers or bleeding in the digestive tract.
- If you have an active clotting disorder or disorder related to the blood supply to the brain.
- If you are experiencing fluid loss (due to vomiting, diarrhoea, or not drinking enough fluids).
- If you have a kidney or liver function problem.
- If you are pregnant (last trimester), it should not be given to children under 12 years of age (<40kgs).

- You're trying to conceive; you should discontinue this medicine.
- If you develop skin allergies like rashes, itching, bumps, blisters, etc.

- Ibugesic Plus tablet is recommended for short-term use only. Do not take more than the daily prescribed dose, as it may affect the liver or cause allergic reactions.
- You should inform your doctor if you have experienced asthma, rhinitis or hives after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on getting pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, inform your doctor about all your medications and medical history.
- Ibugesic Plus tablets should be taken with food to minimize side effects such as stomach discomfort.
- Patients with a history of stomach ulcers, kidney disease, or liver disease should avoid taking them.

- Taking this medicine in high doses may result in serious liver damage, coma and even death.
- Other symptoms are headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, unconsciousness, excitement, coma, dizziness, low blood pressure, fits, difficulty in breathing & weight loss.
- If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Interactions with other medicines
- If you are taking medicines used to treat high blood pressure, this medicine can interfere with their effect.
- Medicines like diuretics can lead to kidney damage when taken along with this medicine.
- This medicine can increase the levels of lithium and its side effects.
- Medicines that modify immune responses, like Ciclosporin & Tacrolimus, can result in kidney damage.
- Increase the risk of stomach ulcers or bleeding when taken with steroids.
- There is a risk of bleeding if you are taking medicines to thin the blood, like Warfarin and Coumarin.
- There is an increased risk of fits if you are taking this medicine with antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Ciprofloxacin.
- If you are taking medicines for treating diabetes, be cautious about symptoms of low glucose levels like sweating, anxiety, fast heartbeat and hunger pangs.
- Medicine used to treat obstruction in the gall bladder, like cholestyramine, should not be consumed before taking this medicine.
- Medicines used to treat fits, seizures & depression include Phenobarbital, Carbamazepine and Phenytoin.
- Other medicines include Probenecid, Rifampicin, St. John's Wort, Methotrexate, Aspirin, Digoxin, and Zidovudine.
