Helcet Syrup is an anti-allergic medicine used to provide relief from the symptoms of allergic rhinitis like sneezing, itchy nose, runny or blocked nose, cough and red and watery eyes. It is also use

d to treat the symptoms of nettle rash (urticaria) in adults and children aged 2 years and above. Helcet Syrup contains levocetirizine as the active substance. It works by blocking the action of a chemical substance called histamine responsible for causing allergic reactions. Take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Shake well before use. Before using Helcet Syrup, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, breastfeeding and about your complete medical history. Also, inform about all the medicines and supplements that you take.

Uses of Helcet 2.5 MG

Helcet Syrup is used to provide relief of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis like sneezing, itchy nose, runny or blocked nose, cough and red and watery eyes.
It is also used to treat the symptoms of nettle rash (urticaria) in adults and children aged 2 years and above.

Contraindications of Helcet 2.5 MG

If you are allergic to levocetirizine, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, any other piperazine derivatives or any other ingredient of Helcet Syrup.
If you have kidney failure/end stage kidney disease with an estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) below 10 ml/min and require dialysis.

Side effects of Helcet 2.5 MG

Headache, sleepiness, dry mouth, tiredness (adults and adolescents)
Vomiting, diarrhoea, sleepiness, sleep disturbances (children)

Pregnancy

Can I take Helcet Syrup during pregnancy?

There is limited information on the effect of Helcet Syrup in pregnant women. Therefore, this medicine should only be used in pregnancy if recommended by the doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Helcet Syrup while breastfeeding?

Helcet Syrup may pass into human breast milk. Thus, this medicine should only be used in breastfeeding women if recommended by the doctor.

Driving

Can I drive if I have used Helcet Syrup?

Helcet Syrup may cause sleepiness, tiredness, and physical weakness. If you experience any such effects after taking this medicine that may affect your ability to drive safely, it is advised to avoid driving.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Helcet Syrup?

Alcohol should not be used together with Helcet Syrup as it may cause further reduction in mental alertness and performance.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You drink alcohol daily or frequently.
You experience fits/seizures or are at risk of convulsions.

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Helcet Syrup works or this medicine itself may interfere with the working of other medicines.
Inform your doctor about all other medicines or herbal supplements that you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (theophylline) or HIV (ritonavir).
Medicines that slow down the central nervous system should not be used together with Helcet Syrup as it may cause further reduction in alertness and performance.

Storage and disposal of Helcet 2.5 MG

Store Helcet Syrup in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Dosage of Helcet 2.5 MG

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose of Helcet Syrup include sleepiness in adults and restlessness and sleepiness in children.
If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed a dose of Helcet Syrup, take it as soon as you remember.
If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.
