Glycomet 250 tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medicine. Glycomet 250 is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used to lower the raised blood glucose levels in the blood when lifestyle changes like dietary modifications cannot control the blood glucose levels alone. Glycomet 250 tablet contains metformin as its active ingredient. It should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It should preferably be taken after meals. Glycomet 250 tablets should not be used by children below 10 years of age. Abrupt stopping of this medicine can result in increased blood sugar levels and complications such as harm to legs, eyesight, kidney and increase risk of infection. Thus, maintaining a healthy lifestyle by including exercise as well as dietary changes along with this medicine can be helpful in controlling your blood sugar levels.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to metformin or any other ingredients of the Glycomet 250 tablet.
  • If you have kidney failure.
  • If you have several conditions such as dehydration, shock and severe infection.
  • If you have an acid-base imbalance in the body or diabetes complications such as diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • If you have conditions such as heart failure, lung failure, shock, heart attack.
  • If you have liver disease.
  • If you had unconsciousness due to either extremely high or low blood sugar levels.

Driving

If you are taking the Glycomet 250 tablet along with other antidiabetic medicines, there are chances that your blood sugar levels can fall too low. You may experience dizziness, faintness, confusion and increased sweating. So, in this case, you should take extra care when driving. Keep a juice or chocolate handy while driving, in case you start experiencing any of these, immediately have it.
