Medical Description
Glimp-M 1 Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It contains glimepiride and metformin as its active ingredients. This medicine works by helping your body use insulin more effectively and increasing insulin production to lower high blood sugar levels. It is prescribed when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient to control blood glucose levels.
Taking Glimp-M 1 Tablet along with a healthy lifestyle is essential for effective diabetes management. Following a balanced diet, maintaining a proper exercise routine, and regularly monitoring blood sugar levels will help achieve better results. Your doctor may also recommend limiting alcohol intake and avoiding smoking to support your overall health while on this medication.
It is important to take Glimp-M 1 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Typically, it should be taken with the first meal of the day to minimise the risk of stomach upset and enhance its effectiveness. Always take the tablet at the same time each day and avoid skipping doses for optimal blood sugar control.
Like all medications, Glimp-M 1 Tablet may cause some side effects in certain patients. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, mild dizziness, and stomach discomfort. Rarely, it may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can present as sweating, shakiness, or weakness. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe or persistent side effects.
Before starting Glimp-M 1 Tablet, inform your doctor about your complete medical history, including any kidney, liver, or heart problems. Women who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding should only use this medicine under medical supervision. Regular monitoring of blood sugar and following the doctor’s advice will help prevent long-term diabetes complications, such as nerve, eye, kidney, and heart-related issues.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Glimepiride lowers the blood sugar level by increasing release of insulin hormone from pancreas. Insulin moves sugar (glucose) from the blood into the cells.
- Metformin decreases the absorption in the intestine and production of sugar by the liver.
- Both of these components are known to increase the insulin sensitivity of the body (allows the cells of the body to use blood glucose more effectively, reducing blood sugar).

- Medicines used for acidity like ranitidine, anti-hypertensive medicine like atenolol, propanolol, clonidine and anti-pyschotic medicine like reserpine can either increase or decrease the effect of this medicine, thus masking the signs of low blood sugar, thus should be cautious.
