Gardenal Injection Description

Gardenal Injection is an injection manufactured by Abbott health. It is from the drug class of barbiturates, which acts as a central nervous system depressant. It is an anti-epileptic and anti-convul

sant medication (drugs that take different neural pathways reduce seizure episodes). It is also used as a sedative-hypnotic to treat sleep problems and anxiety. The injection should not be administered without the doctor’s approval. The active component of the injection is phenobarbitone. Long-term use of phenobarbitone can lead to changes in the body’s soft tissue and can be addictive. It should not be administered for more than two weeks. Overdose can also cause folic acid deficiencies, which can lead to anaemia. At the same time, sudden withdrawal can cause sleeplessness, anxiety, dizziness, fits etc. If being used for insomnia, it is generally recommended to take the injection 30 to 60 minutes before sleeping. It can be taken with or without food. In some patients, it can cause excitement instead of controlling aggression.
