Medical Description
Ebast-M Tablet is a medicine used to help manage symptoms of allergies such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itching, and watery eyes. These symptoms may occur due to seasonal changes or other allergens like dust or pollen. It is also helpful in relieving breathing-related symptoms like cough and airway irritation associated with bronchial asthma.
This tablet contains a combination of ebastine and montelukast, which work together to reduce allergic reactions in the body. They help block the substances responsible for allergy symptoms, making breathing easier and improving overall comfort during allergic conditions.
You should take Ebast-M Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the recommended dose and for the advised duration. It is important to inform your doctor about any existing health conditions and all other medicines, supplements, or herbal products you are using to avoid possible interactions.
Some people may experience side effects such as headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, or dry mouth after taking this medicine. These effects are usually mild, but if they persist or become worse, you should consult your doctor promptly.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Ebastine works by inhibiting the action of histamine, a natural substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction. It helps alleviate allergic symptoms, including watery eyes, throat irritation, and sneezing.
- Whereas montelukast helps control symptoms by inhibiting the actions of leukotrienes, the natural substances in the body that cause narrowing and swelling of airways in the lungs and lead to symptoms of bronchial asthma.
- The collective action of these two components helps in relieving symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- You should be cautious if you are already taking other medications, such as antiepileptic medications like phenobarbital or phenytoin, or medicines to treat high cholesterol levels like gemfibrozil, during treatment with Ebast M tablet.
- Concomitant use with anti-tuberculosis medicines like rifampicin can reduce the concentration of ebastine in blood and ultimately reduce the efficacy of the medicine.
- If certain antibiotics, such as erythromycin, ketoconazole, or itraconazole, and Ebast M tablet have been taken at the same time, then it may increase the level of ebastine in blood serum. The doctor may change the dose accordingly.
- Clarithromycin, an antibiotic and Ebast M tablet is not recommended to be taken together.
- Some medicines can affect the way Ebast M tablet works, or Ebast M tablet itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medications, supplements, or herbal supplements you are currently taking or may take to avoid any potential interactions.
Interactions with food items
- Ebast M can be taken with or without food.
- Taking it after meals may help reduce stomach upset or nausea.
- Avoid alcohol, as it may worsen dizziness and drowsiness caused by ebastine.
- Very fatty or heavy meals may slow the absorption of the medicine, so light meals are preferable.
- Drink enough water and eat a balanced diet (fruits, vegetables, whole grains) to help manage allergy symptoms.
- Avoid excessive caffeine (such as coffee and energy drinks) if you feel restless or have difficulty sleeping after taking the tablet.
