Medical Description

Ebasil Tablet contains Ebastine as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medicines called antihistamine. It is used to cure symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, red, itchy and watery eyes which may be seasonal or non-seasonal. You should inform your doctor about all other medicines, over-the-counter medicines and herbal preparations you are taking before starting this medicine. It should not be used in children below 12 years of age. Patients with liver and kidney problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should take this medicine only if it is considered absolutely essential by the doctor. You may have mild side effects also like a dry mouth, a headache, drowsiness, but they usually go away with time. So try to keep yourself hydrated and have plenty of water. And if you feel persistent symptoms consult your doctor quickly.

Uses

Ebasil Tablet is used to provide symptomatic relief in symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, red, itchy, and watery eyes, hay fever associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial allergy rhinitis (that lasts for long term). It provides relief in long term hives (urticaria).

If you are allergic to Ebastine or any other ingredients of Ebasil Tablet.

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

It is not recommended during pregnancy as there is limited information about the effects of this medicine during pregnancy. However, your doctor may prescribe you this medicine if it has more advantages than risks. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Breast Feeding

It is not known if this medication passes into the breastmilk. Therefore, a breastfeeding mother should take this medicine only under the doctor's recommendation. Refrain from self-medication.

Driving

Ebasil 20mg Strip Of 10 Tablets may cause sleepiness or dizziness sometimes. So it is advised not to drive until you don't know how this medicine affects you.

Alcohol

You should avoid alcohol intake withEbasil Tablet, as it may increase the risk of side effects.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have a severe liver problem.
Ebasil Tablet should not be given to children below 12 years old.
You are already taking certain antibiotics to treat fungal infections.

Directions for Use

Ebastine works by inhibiting the action of histamine, a natural substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction and improves allergic symptoms like watery eyes, throat irritation, sneezing, nasal congestion.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Concomitant use with antituberculosis medicines like rifampicin, can reduce the concentration of Ebastine in the blood and ultimately reduce the efficacy of this medicine.
Simultaneous use of certain antibiotics like erythromycin, ketoconazole or itraconazole andEbasil Tablet may increase the level of Ebastine in blood serum. The doctor may change the dose accordingly.
Use of Ebasil Tablet and clarithromycin antibiotic at the same time should be avoided.
