Directions for Use

Wash your hands before and after each use. If used in the eye, tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid gently, and instill one to two drops in the pouch. Close your eyes for 2-3 minutes. If used in the ear, warm the eye/ear drop to body temperature, fill the ear canal, and maintain position for several minutes. Use as directed by your doctor. Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye or ear.

Storage and disposal

Store at room temperature, or as specified on the label (some formulations require refrigeration). Keep the bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Store away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Discard according to local guidelines.

Dosage

Overdose

Overdose is unlikely from topical application. If ingested, especially in children, seek medical attention. Symptoms of systemic corticosteroid overdose may include dizziness, nausea, or weakness.

Missed a Dose

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for the next scheduled application. Skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not apply extra doses to compensate.

How does this medicine work?

Neomycin kills bacteria by disrupting protein synthesis, stopping the growth of infection-causing organisms. Dexamethasone suppresses inflammation by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators and immune cell activation, reducing pain, redness, and swelling associated with infection.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

No significant systemic interactions occur when used topically as directed. However, inform your doctor if you use other eye or ear medications; space applications 5-10 minutes apart. Avoid concurrent use of other topical corticosteroids in the same eye or ear without medical guidance.

Interactions with food items

No food interactions occur with topical application.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Symptoms often improve within 24-48 hours of starting treatment. Use the eye/ear drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed, and let your doctor know if there is no improvement within 2 days.
If labeled for eye/ear use, yes, but use separate clean droppers or applicators for each. Never use the same tip in both areas to avoid spreading infection.
Mild, temporary blurring is common. Do not drive immediately after instillation. If vision remains blurred beyond a few minutes, consult your doctor.
