Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, ideally between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep it well out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.

Quick Tips

  • Do not take it at the same time as tea, coffee, milk, or antacids.
  • Add iron-rich foods such as green leafy vegetables, beans, lentils, and lean meat to your diet.
  • Dark stools while taking iron are normal and harmless.

Dosage

Overdose

An overdose of iron is dangerous, especially in children, and can cause severe stomach pain, vomiting, loose motions, or blood in the vomit or stool. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital, even if you feel well.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

The body uses iron to make the red pigment in blood that carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. When iron runs low, fewer healthy red blood cells are made and you can feel tired and weak. Citraphos tablet tops up the body's iron so it can build healthy red blood cells again and carry oxygen properly.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can change the way Citraphos tablet works, and it can change how other medicines are absorbed. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins, and herbal products you use. In particular, mention antacids and certain antibiotics, and keep a gap of about two hours before or four hours after an antacid, as iron and antacids can affect each other.

Interactions with food items

Tea, coffee, milk, and eggs can reduce how much iron your body absorbs, so avoid taking this medicine with them. Foods rich in vitamin c, such as oranges and other citrus fruits, can help the body take in more iron.
