Medical Description

Ciplox-TZ tablet is an antibiotic medicine. It contains a combination of ciprofloxacin and tinidazole as active ingredients. It is used for the treatment of a wide range of infections caused by bacteria. It is effective for infection of the reproductive tract, tooth, urinary tract, lung, stomach, airways and abdominal infections such as acute diarrhoea or dysentery. It is used to prevent post-surgical infections. Ciplox-TZ tablet works by the combined action of its two ingredients and the growth of infection-causing bacteria. The dose, duration and frequency of taking Ciplox-TZ tablets are decided by your doctor. Always take the medicine as prescribed by the doctor for the prescribed duration. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better, as incomplete treatment may result in treatment failure and the infection might reoccur.

Uses

  • Ciplox-TZ tablet is used to treat infection of the stomach, liver, tooth, pancreas, abdomen, vagina, cervix uterus, urinary tract, lung, throat and airways.
  • It is also used for the prevention of infection, which may happen after surgery and operation.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to ciprofloxacin, tinidazole, similar medicines or any ingredient of Ciplox-TZ tablet.
  • If you have serious blood disease or brain disorders.
  • If you have a history of serious allergic reactions including allergy of the skin due to any antibiotic.
  • If you are pregnant (especially during the first trimester) or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking a medicine called tizanidine for muscle spasms.

Ciplox-TZ tablet must not be used during pregnancy as it may alter the growth and development of bones in the unborn baby. Thus, avoid it during pregnancy.

Ciplox-TZ medicine may pass in breast milk and women should avoid breastfeeding the baby at least for three days after taking the last dose. Also, you must watch the baby for fungal infection of the mouth and diarrhoea while you are on the medicine.

The medicine may cause dizziness, giddiness, unusual muscle movements and impaired alertness thus avoid driving.

Alcohol

Alcohol

Avoid consuming alcohol during the treatment and at least three days after stopping the treatment. It may cause abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, headaches and hot flushes may also occur.

  • You have liver and kidney diseases
  • You have watery diarrhoea and black tarry stools, immediately stop the medicine and inform the doctor.
  • You may experience blood disorder, anaemia and abnormal blood count.
  • You may experience irregular heartbeat and difficulty in passing urine.
  • You have diabetes, then the blood glucose may drop when you are on the medicine. You may experience pain, swelling in the joints or tendons, take a rest, stop the medicine and inform the doctor.
  • You may experience muscle pain and muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
  • You have a history of fits.
  • You may experience burning, tingling, numbness or pain sensations.

Directions for Use

Ciplox-TZ tablet should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

  • Store at a temperature below 25°C in a cool dry place.
  • Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

Overdose symptoms of Ciplox-TZ tablet include headache, tiredness, dizziness, hallucinations and fits. If you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.

Missed a Dose

It would be best if you never miss your dose of antibiotics as it may lead to treatment failure. If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
