Molecule Description

Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin is a combination medicine. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the stomach, lung, throat, etc. It can also be used to prevent infection which may occur after surgery and operation. Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin is available in the form of tablet. suspension. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting this medicine.

Uses

  • Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections of the stomach, liver, pancreas, surrounding organ, vagina, cervix uterus, lung, throat and airways.
  • It is also used for the prevention of infection which may happen after surgery and operation.

Contraindications

When should one not use Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin

  • If you are allergic to tinidazole, ciprofloxacin or similar medicines
  • If you have a history of serious allergic reactions including allergy of the skin due to any antibiotic.
  • If you have serious blood or brain disease.
  • If you are pregnant (especially during the first trimester) or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking a medicine called Tizanidine for muscle spasms.

Talk to your doctor if
  • You have problems with your liver and kidney
  • You experience irregular heartbeat and difficulty in passing urine
  • You experience any blood disorder, anaemia and abnormal blood count
  • You have diabetes, then your blood glucose can drop when you are on this medicine
  • You have a history of fits
  • You experience burning, tingling, numbness or pain sensations
  • You experience muscle pain and muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis)
  • You experience pain, swelling in the joints or tendons
  • You have watery diarrhoea and black tarry stools
  • Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin is not recommended for children
  • You experience nervousness, aggression, lack of sleep, anxiety, hallucinations, depression or suicidal thoughts, immediately inform your doctor

How Does It Work?

Tinidazole+Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting the formation and action of bacterial enzymes responsible for the growth of bacteria which eventually leads to the death of infection-causing bacteria.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Some medicines can affect the way tinidazole+ciprofloxacin works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • Do not take Tizanidine (muscle relaxant) along with tinidazole+ciprofloxacin
  • This medicine should be taken at least 2 hours before taking any medicines containing magnesium/aluminum used for acidity, to treat ulcers like Sucralfate, any preparation containing zinc and iron and certain anti-HIV drugs like Didanosine
  • This medicine should be used with caution if you are taking medicines that can alter your heart rhythms like quinidine, hydroquinone, disopyramide, clomipramine or amitriptyline and antibiotics like erythromycin, clarithromycin and azithromycin or are taking medicines like theophylline (for breathing problems), blood thinners, probenecid, metoclopramide, omeprazole, agomelatine, zolpidem, methotrexate, caffeine, phenytoin, cyclosporine, lidocaine, ropinirole, duloxetine, clozapine, metronidazole, sildenafil, sucralfate.
