Ciplar-LA 40 Tablet

• For the treatment of High blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm (Atrial fibrillation), Pheochromocytoma ( a rare tumour of adrenal gland situated above kidneys) and Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis (a disorder of heart muscle).
• For prevention of angina attacks (chest pain due to heart condition), heart attack and tremors and migraine.

• If you are allergic to propranolol or any other ingredients of Ciplar LA 40mg tablet.
• If you have heart blocks.
• If you have a lung condition like asthma.
• If you have low blood sugar.
• If you have a low heart rate, low blood pressure.
• If you have an acid-base imbalance.

• Fatigue
• Sleep disturbance
• Breathlessness
• Cold extremities
• Palpitations

Other General Warnings

• You have uncontrolled heart failure.
• You have heart blockage.
• You suffer from diabetes, thyroid, and a non-cancerous tumour of the adrenal gland.
• You have a planned surgery.
• You have liver, lung or kidney disease.
• You have myasthenia gravis.
• You are using other medication.

• Store Ciplar LA 40mg tablet at a temperature below 30°C in a cool, dry place.
• Keep it away from children and pets.

• Ciplar LA 40mg is a beta-blocker primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders.
• Do not stop taking Ciplar LA suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it may cause adverse effects.
• Take the tablet with a glass of water, and try to take it at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood levels.
• Avoid alcohol while on Ciplar LA, as it can enhance the sedative effects and increase the risk of side effects.
• Inform your doctor about any other medications, supplements, or herbal products you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
• If you experience any severe side effects such as breathing difficulties, chest pain, or swelling of the face, seek immediate medical attention.
• Inform your doctor if you have a history of asthma, bronchitis, or other respiratory issues, as propranolol may worsen these conditions.
• Avoid activities that require mental alertness and coordination, such as driving or operating heavy machinery, until you know how Ciplar LA affects you.
• Regularly monitor your blood pressure and heart rate during the treatment period, as directed by your healthcare provider.

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• Certain medicines may affect the way Ciplar LA 40mg tablet works or this tablet itself affects the action of certain medicines when taken together.
• Concurrent use of Ciplar LA 40mg tablet with verapamil, diltiazem (heart medicine); digoxin (heart failure); disopyramide, quinidine (irregular heartbeat), cimetidine (stomach acid reducer) may result in decreased heart rate and blood pressure.
• Ciplar LA 40mg tablet effect decreases or nullifies when used along with adrenaline or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine.
• The effect of Ciplar LA 40mg tablet is decreased with phenobarbital and pentobarbital.
• The effect of propafenone (heart medicine) is increased with this medicine.
• Concurrent use of blood thinner like warfarin with Ciplar LA 40mg tablet increases the risk of bleeding.
• Discuss with the doctor regarding the other medicines, herbal preparations and supplements you take to avoid possible interactions.
