Directions for Use

Prepare the dry syrup exactly as stated on the label or by the pharmacist. Shake the prepared suspension well and measure it with the supplied device. Give or take it only as prescribed, and do not consume it directly from the bottle.

Storage and disposal

Keep the unopened bottle in a dry place away from heat and direct light. After preparation, follow the label or pharmacist's storage and discard instructions, and keep it out of reach of children.

Quick Tips

  • Use the measuring device supplied with the syrup.
  • Do not use leftover antibiotic for another illness.
  • Contact the prescriber if symptoms worsen or do not improve as expected.

Dosage

Overdose

Taking too much may cause vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, or an allergic reaction. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you miss the dose, take it when you remember unless the next planned use is near. If it is time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Cefpodoxime interferes with bacterial cell-wall formation. Clavulanic acid blocks some bacterial enzymes that can otherwise break down this type of antibiotic. The combination works only against susceptible bacteria and not against viral colds or influenza.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way this antibiotic is absorbed or increase unwanted effects. Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use. In particular, mention antacids, acid-reducing medicines, kidney medicines, and other antibiotics.

Interactions with food items

Follow the label about food because food instructions can depend on the formulation. Do not mix the medicine into food or drink unless the pharmacist confirms that this is suitable.
