Caverta Tablet is a prescription medicine primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), a condition in men characterised by the inability to achieve or maintain a satisfactory erection for sexual activity. It can result from various causes, including psychological, neurological, hormonal, and vascular factors. Caverta Tablet contains sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5) inhibitor, as its active ingredient. This medicine facilitates penile erection by enhancing the natural process of sexual stimulation.
Sildenafil works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the penis. Sexual stimulation leads to the release of nitric oxide (NO), which activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase. This results in increased levels of cGMP, causing smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to the penis. By blocking PDE5, sildenafil prolongs the activity of cGMP, thereby sustaining an erection during sexual arousal.
Caverta Tablet should be taken orally with a glass of water, typically 30 to 60 minutes before planned sexual activity. The effect may last for up to 4 hours, although this varies depending on the individual. It can be taken with or without food; however, a heavy or high-fat meal may delay its onset of action. Patients are advised to follow the prescribed dose and avoid taking more than one tablet in a 24-hour period.
While Caverta is effective in treating erectile dysfunction, it does not serve as a cure and does not increase libido or sexual desire. It only works in the presence of sexual stimulation. It is also not recommended for continuous daily use unless specifically advised by a healthcare provider. Take this medicine as per your doctor's advised dose and duration. You can take this medicine with or without food. Inform your doctor about any other medical conditions or any medications you are currently taking.

- If you are taking medicine known to cause vasodilator effect such as amyl nitrate or nitrates.
- If you are taking riociguat medicine used for the treatment of aterial blood. pressure.
- If you have a known history of any heart problem such as heart failure
- If you have a known history of liver disorders, low blood pressure, stroke or heart blockage.
- If you have a known history of eye problems like retinitis pigmentosa( genetic disorder that may cause loss of vision).
- If you are not sure if you are taking this medicine carry the medicine packet along with you to the clinic.

- This medicine is not recommended to use in women.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Caverta Tablet works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction. Also, you should inform your doctor if you have a planned surgery or vaccination scheduled.
- Concomitant administration of Caverta Tablet along with medicines containing nitrates, leads to severe hypotensive effects (low blood pressure).
- In particular, if you are taking medicines to treat heart failure, anti-HIV medicine, anti-infectives, anti-diabetics, anti-asthmatics, pain killers, immunomodulatory medicines or medicines for the brain-related disorder.
