Medical Description

Bifona creme is an azole antifungal medicine used to treat fungal skin infections, such as dermatomycosis. It contains bifonazole that is used to kill fungi growth and reduce symptoms like rashes, itching, etc.

Uses

  • Used for the treatment of various topical fungal infections, including athlete's foot (tinea pedis)

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic (hypersensitivity) to bifonazole
  • To treat nappy rash in babies
  • To treat nail and scalp infections
  • To treat vaginal infections.

  • Swallowing or breathing problems
  • Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue
  • Slight irritation or burning

Talk to your doctor if
  • You're taking any other medicines
  • You are allergic to bifonazole or other azole group medicines
  • You have any chronic skin infection, injured skin or rashes

Directions for Use

  • Topical use only.
  • Before use, pierce the tube seal by inverting the cap over the end of the tube and press.
  • Before applying the cream, your feet should be washedand dried thoroughly, especially between the toes.
  • The cream should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected areas once daily, preferably at night before going to bed, and rubbed in gently.
  • Treatment should be continued for as long as the doctor has prescribed.
  • It may help to use an antifungal dusting powderas well. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend one.

Storage and disposal

Store the product in original carton. Keep out of children's reach. Medicines should not be disposed of via waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required.

  • Excessive use of Bifona creme can cause serious irritation. Bifona creme may cause a local skin irritation which can be very similar to the symptoms of the infection. If any of your symptoms gets worse, stop treatment and see your doctor as soon as possible.
  • If you accidentally get cream in your eyes or swallowed , washimmediately with water and contact your doctor.

Missed a Dose

Apply the cream as soon as possible and then continuethe rest of your treatment as usual.

  • Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or
  • have recently taken any other medicines, including
  • medicines obtained without a prescription, especially
  • warfarin (an anticoagulant used to prevent blood clots). There may be a risk of bleeding in case of large skin surface being applied to.

  • Although the infected area will itch, try not to scratch.
  • Scratching will damage the surface of the skin and cause the infection to spread further.
  • Keep the affected skin areas clean.
  • Pay special attention while drying the skin, including between the toes, but avoid excessive rubbing. Do not share towels, bath mats, etc. with other people as you could spread the infection to them.
  • Always wash your hands after treating the infectionto prevent it from spreading.
  • Wash your socks, stockings and tights thoroughly in hot water to remove any shed skin or fungal spores.
  • Change your footwear daily if possible.
The symptoms of athlete’s foot, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment although signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
