Attera tablet is a prescription medicine used to manage attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Its active ingredient is Atomoxetine. The mode of action of the Attera tablet is by increasing the amount of norepinephrine, a natural substance in the brain that manages the behaviour.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a psychological disorder characterised by difficulty sustaining attention, impulsive behaviour, and hyperactivity. It can happen due to genetics, environment, food additives, alcohol abuse, smoking during pregnancy, etc. Increasing attention and providing a calming effect in ADHD patients is the main use of the Attera tablet.
You can take an Attera tablet with or without food. Try to follow your doctor's directions for using the Attera tablet exactly about dosage and duration. Do not alter or stop this medicine without conferring with your doctor. It can exacerbate the symptoms and worsen the disorder. This medication does not cause any withdrawal symptoms when abruptly stopped. It also does not have a propensity to cause dependency.

- As per CDSCO, the Attera tablet treats Attention Deficit Hyperkinetic/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Patients who need long term treatment should be monitored, and consideration should be given to interrupting treatment in children who are not developing or gaining weight.
Contraindications
- If you have a known hypersensitive reaction to Atomoxetine and the Attera tablet ingredients.
- If you were diagnosed with narrow-angle glaucoma, an eye disorder that causes raised tension inside the eye.
- If you are currently taking other antidepressant medications.
- If you have been diagnosed with an adrenal gland tumour known as pheochromocytoma.
- If you have any type of heart ailment.
- Do not take Attera medication if you have an aneurysm or any blood vessel disorder.
- If you have any urinary retention issues.

Overdose of Attera tablet can cause symptoms like drowsiness, dizziness, stomach problems, tremors, palpitation, and unusual behaviour. If you are experiencing any of Attera tablet's overdose symptoms, seek medical help immediately from a hospital close to you.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a single dose of the Attera tablet, take it as soon as possible. In case by the time you remember, it's already time to take the next Attera tablet dose, then skip the missed dose of Attera tablet and continue with the next one.
Do not take both tablets together as it can lead to an overdose. Speak to the doctor if you have any confusion or missed more than a few doses.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- If you are using a different type of antidepressant already, using the Attera tablet can cause increased adverse reactions.
- Using Attera tablet with other medications like medications that lower high blood pressure, anti-seizure medication, some cough and cold pills, antipsychotics, etc., can alter the levels of Attera medicine as well as its effectiveness
- It is better to be cautious if you are taking any heart medicine, anti-malarial medicine, or some antibiotics along with Attera tablet as it can increase the risk of abnormal heart rhythm such as long QT syndrome.
Interactions with food items
- Try to avoid grapefruit and its juice, as it can increase the Attera tablet's levels in the blood and affect the medicine.
