Alerid syrup is a medication used to provide relief from various allergic conditions. It contains the active ingredient cetirizine, which is an anti-allergic medicine belonging to the antihistamine group. This medicine is used to treat symptoms associated with dust or pet allergies, such as sneezing, itchy, runny or blocked nose, red and watery eyes, swelling, redness, and itchiness of the skin, insect bites, and hives. By blocking histamine, a natural chemical substance in your body responsible for allergic reactions, Alerid syrup helps to alleviate these discomforting symptoms.
The dosage of Alerid syrup is variable, particularly in children, and is based on their age group. The syrup should be taken as instructed by your doctor, using a measuring cup, spoon, or dropper for the exact quantity after shaking well. It is typically prescribed for a short duration or as needed; you should not take it for more than 7 days unless specifically advised by your doctor.
