Medical Description

Adgef Tablet is an anti-cancer medication containing gefitinib as its main component. It is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Uses

For the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to gefitinib or any of the ingredient of Adgef Tablet
  • If you are breastfeeding

Side effects

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
  • Fever, eating disorder
  • Skin rash, itching, redness
  • Loss of appetite, weakness
  • Dry or sore mouth
  • Conjunctivitis, dry eye
  • Hair loss, nail disorder
  • Nosebleed, blood in urine (bleeding)

Pregnancy

There is limited information on the use of this medicine in pregnancy. Hence it is recommended not to use the same unless prescribed by your doctor.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
  • You have problems with your lungs
  • You have a history of liver problem
  • You are already taking any other medicines like rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, warfarin, antacids etc.
  • You develop eye problems
  • You develop stomach and intestinal problems
  • You experience diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting while on treatment, contact the doctor
  • This medicine is not recommended for use in children & adolescents

Directions for Use

  • Adgef Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
  • Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
  • It can be taken with or without food.
  • It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
  • You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Storage and disposal

  • Store Adgef Tablet in a clean and dry place, protected from moisture, sun light and heat.
  • Keep the medicine away from children and pets.

Dosage

Overdose

  • Symptoms of overdose are diarrhoea, skin rash
  • If you experience any of the symptoms or think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Gefitinib works by blocking a certain protein which is responsible for the growth of cancer cells. Thus stopping or slowing down the growth of cancer cells.
