  • Red and swollen spots

Contraindications

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to dapsone or to any of the other ingredients in Acnedap gel. Tell your doctor before starting it if you have a blood condition called glucose-six-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, which can raise the chance of red blood cell problems. Avoid applying it on broken, infected, or sunburnt skin.

  • Dryness
  • Redness
  • Peeling
  • Itching
  • Oily skin

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, talk to your doctor before using Acnedap gel. Because it is applied to the skin, only a small amount is absorbed into the body, but your doctor will decide if it is right for you.

Breast Feeding

Breast Feeding

If you are breastfeeding, check with your doctor before using Acnedap gel. Very little of a skin-applied medicine passes into breast milk, but your doctor can guide you based on your situation.

Driving

Driving

Acnedap gel does not usually affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Alcohol

Alcohol

There is no known problem with drinking alcohol while using Acnedap gel. Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Directions for Use

For external use only. Apply Acnedap gel on healthy skin that is free from cuts and wounds. Clean and dry the affected area first, then spread a thin layer over it. Wash your hands before and after use. Keep it away from your eyes, mouth, and nose, and rinse with plenty of water if it accidentally gets there.

Storage and disposal

Store Acnedap gel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep it out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Quick Tips

  • Use it on clean, dry skin to avoid extra irritation.
  • Keep up a gentle skincare routine while using this medicine.
  • Acne can take a few weeks to improve, so use it regularly.
  • Do not apply more than advised, as extra gel only irritates the skin.
  • Stop and tell your doctor if your lips or nail beds turn grey or blue.

Dosage

Overdose

Acnedap gel is meant only for the skin, so applying too much is unlikely to cause serious harm, though it may leave the skin red or peeling. If the gel is swallowed by mistake, or if you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Acne flares up when the skin turns red, swollen, and irritated. Dapsone, the active ingredient in Acnedap gel, settles this inflammation and reduces the activity of the germs that make acne worse. This helps calm existing pimples and keeps the skin looking clearer.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can change the way Acnedap gel works, and it can affect how other medicines work too. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, creams, and supplements you are using. In particular, mention it if you are using other acne treatments applied to the skin, such as those containing benzoyl peroxide, as using them together may cause a temporary yellow or orange colour on the skin and facial hair that washes off.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. Let the gel dry for a few minutes after applying it, then you can put on makeup or sunscreen. Choosing skin-friendly, oil-free products helps keep the pores clear.
Acne treatment takes time. Most people notice their skin improving after a few weeks of regular use. If your acne does not get better or gets worse, tell your doctor.
Rinse the area at once with plenty of cool water. If burning, pain, or any change in vision continues, get medical help quickly.
