Molecule Description
Bromocriptine is an Ergoline derivative. It activates a chemical called Dopamine that is used in the treatment of pituitary tumors, Parkinson’s disease and several other conditions.

How Does It Work?
It works by decreasing the release of prolactin hormone and growth hormone in the body, which treats diseases where you need less of these substances.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Drugs for treating blood pressure such as diuretics (water tablets), beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers or ACE inhibitors
- Ergot alkaloids like Ergometrine (used to prevent blood loss after giving birth) and Ergotamine Tartrate (used to treat migraines)
- Erythromycin or any other macrolide antibiotics (used to treat infections)
- This medicine has interactions with alcohol and Nicotine. Do not smoke or consume alcohol while on treatment with Bromocriptinergometrine (used to stop blood loss after giving birth)
Interactions with food items
This medicine should be taken with a meal.
Dosage
Overdose
The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, constipation, sweating, pale skin, dizziness, drowsiness, yawning, hallucinations and fainting. Seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Missed a Dose
Take the missed dose with food as early as you remember. If the time for next dose is close, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.
