How Levolin 1 works
- Levolin Syrup contains Levosalbutamol, which works by increasing the levels of a chemical messenger called cyclic AMP in the airway cells. This process specifically tells the muscles in the airways to relax, preventing them from tightening.
- It acts on the entire respiratory tract, from the trachea to the smallest bronchioles, providing relief from spasms. Additionally, it helps prevent the release of inflammatory chemicals from certain immune cells (mast cells). While it is designed to target the lungs, a small percentage of the heart's receptors are also sensitive to this medicine, which is why a temporary increase in heart rate or pulse is sometimes observed.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Certain medicines can affect the way Levolin syrup or this syrup itself works, and vice versa.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently giving or might give to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines like water pills, antidepressants, other asthma medications, steroid medications, anti-diabetics, or herbal products, you are currently taking or might take, to avoid possible interactions.
- Levolin 1 mg syrup should be discontinued for 6 hours before any planned dental procedures or surgeries, which might involve the use of inhalational anesthetics, as it can lead to heart problems or bleeding disorders.
